General Health Insurance for Foreign Students
If, within three months of the date of their first enrolment in the schools in which they are studying, all foreign students studying in our country submit a request to the Provincial Social Security Directorate / Social Security Centre of the region in which their schools are located, together with a student certificate showing the date of their first enrolment in the schools in which they are studying, their general health insurance will be taken out for one year from the day following the date of their written request. Foreign students who are enrolled in the general health insurance scheme in this way are required to pay the general health insurance premium, calculated on the basis of the premium determined in accordance with Article 82 of the Law, at the rate of one third of the lower limit of the daily income for 30 days. (This amount is TL /143.10 per month).
On the other hand, the general health insurance coverage of foreign students who are registered in accordance with the laws in force shall be terminated for the reasons specified in this Law. Foreign students who do not make a written request to be included in the general health insurance scheme within a period of three months from the date of their first enrolment in the schools where they will be studying will not be included in the general health insurance scheme during their studies. For this reason, foreign students who wish to be covered by the general health insurance scheme must submit a written request within three months of their first enrolment at their school.
